macOS Sierra no longer in purchase list

Wednesday 21st September 2016 – The day after Sierra was released by Apple.

A few of us on MacAdmins Slack have noticed that Sierra doesn’t behave the same way on the App Store as previous OS releases or any other App for that matter.

  1. There’s a permanent download button even when signed out of the store.
  2. Sierra no longer registers a place inside your “Purchased” items list.

This potentially means the following:

  1. No Apple ID is required to download and install the latest OS releases anymore
  2. The OS may disappear from the App Store whenever 10.13 is released.

Archival copies of OS versions suddenly became very important. You are archiving them right? Thought so. Good!

More news as we get it.
